Meet Vionne M. Douglas
Experienced Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation Attorney.
Vionne is a skilled attorney, focusing her practice in workers’ compensation, immigration, personal injury and civil litigation. She has the experience and knowledge to understand and navigate complex civil litigation, including matters arising out of work injuries, toxic exposures, automobile and trucking collisions, premises liability accidents and medical malpractice actions. Her experience extends to successions and domestic matters, including divorces and custody disputes. Vionne uses her comprehensive knowledge and experience to provide aggressive representation and sound legal advice for her clients.
Vionne is committed to providing personalized legal representation for her clients. During initial consultations, she actively listens and engages in dialog with prospective clients to fully understand their concerns and goals. After the initial consultation, Vionne develops a specifically-tailored plan to address her clients’ needs. While litigation can be complex and confusing, Vionne’s goal is to create an atmosphere of trust, comfort and compassion, thus ensuring that her clients understand and are comfortable with the entire litigation process from start to finish.
Prior to joining Carter & McKee, LLC, Vionne accumulated extensive, strategic knowledge defending major oil and petrochemical companies in complex civil disputes arising from alleged occupational exposure to asbestos and benzene. Recognizing her strong desire to seek justice on behalf of everyday, working people, Vionne went from defending Fortune 500 companies to pursuing claims against them in the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Litigation. After litigating BP claims for several years, Vionne became an advocate for injured workers, recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in past and future workers’ compensation benefits on their behalf. Vionne’s diverse experience also extends to appellate practice, having worked as a Civil Staff Attorney for the Third Circuit Court of Appeal and prepared appellate briefs for submission to Louisiana appellate courts on behalf of her clients.
Vionne’s appellate, prosecutorial and civil defense experience has equipped Vionne with an invaluable advantage—the unique ability to understand and analyze matters from various perspectives and effectively strategize next steps throughout the litigation process.
Vionne graduated from Louisiana State University A&M in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, with an emphasis in Advertising, and a minor Political Science. Thereafter, she graduated, cum laude, from Southern University Law Center, where she was a member of the Law Review. Vionne was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2008 and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Vionne was named one of 2016’s Top Lawyers of Acadiana in the area of workers’ compensation. In addition to serving as special counsel for Carter & McKee, LLC, Vionne serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she teaches Legal Analysis & Writing and Lawyering Process.
